Disappointment with Area C2 Area Governor

May 28, 2010

I was so upset and disappointed with the Division C District 51 council and with full support from the Officials of Port Dickson Toastmasters Club. I wrote an open letter to the Divisional Council seeking an explanation. Below is the letter :) >

To WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Port Dickson Toastmasters Club has once again being sidelined.

This time, in the choice of nominating and electing the best available candidates amongst the clubs for the posts of Area Governors in Area C, District 51.

It looks like politic has crept into the running of the this District/Division. Or is it that the conspiracy theory is true. I suppose that the nomination and election of the Area Governor positions is above board and transparent. Were proper protocol and procedures adhered to and strictly followed?

To me it was slip short, biased and unprofessional. I wish to know on what basis the candidates for Area Governors in Area C District 51 were chosen or in this case appointed..

# Was the Divisional Governor aware of what is happening?

# Did the outgoing Area Governors sounded the various club Presidents for well deserved and outstanding Toastmasters to be recommended for the posts?

# Was there an official election or contest in the Divisional council.

I, being a very senior member of the Port Dickson Toastmasters Club wish to know the above answers. Failing which, I will urge the club to protest to the highest level and see that fair play and transparency is being practice.

After all we are all Professionals or are we??

Long Live Toastmasters!

Please comment whether I did the right thing. All comments will be greatly appreciated. What, in your opinion should this serious matter be handled? What is the alternative route to seek an answer.

I truly wish to know  to learn from it. After all, we are all here to learn and improve ourselves.

Happy learning!

Hello Friends,

April 24, 2010

Thank you for visiting my new blog. I had one a few years back on “Cholesterol” but the scope was too narrow and catered only to a small audience. I ran out of ideas and finally had to abandon ship for lack of inspiration and motivation.

You can still access and read about it on this page under Very Useful Links.

By nature I am a very private person. I like to keep to myself and enjoy toiling around  my house which is in fact my “little castle” and also my hide-out. So many interesting and exciting happenings took place there . It brings back many fond and cherished memories for me of those who had passed on especially my wonderful  parents and most understanding and loving spouse. And I treasured them dearly.

I also like to read and explore new things that come my way. Like Internet surfing and right now creating a personal blog. Remember, it`s never too late to learn new things. The only thing that is constant in this world is “change.” You have to keep up with the times and change accordingly. Otherwise, you will become obsolete and be left behind like the dinosaurs. Like my late chemistry teacher used to say,

“BE Wise or You Will Be – OTHERWISE”

I think and I can proof to you that it is a myth that :-

“You can`t teach an old dog new tricks”

Indeed, you can and I am a living proof of that. I enjoyed Toastmasters club meetings tremendously and would not exchange that for anything else in the world. However, after being a member of the Port Dickson Toastmasters club for so many years – more than two decades. I literately became a veteran of the club. So much so, before I knew it, I found myself the most senior member of the club. Ah..ah… how time flies when you enjoy what you are doing.

And now that I have grown so attached to the club,  I`ve  decided to go for the highest title that Toastmasters International confers. That is the :-

DTM – the DISTINGUISHED TOASTMASTERS title.

Well, you can say I am a late bloomer. It`s better late than never..eh!!

I now look forward to commit and mentor members that will come under my umbrella when I become the Area Governor of District 51 in division C.

For those of you who are not members of any Toastmasters club please go to the nearest Toastmasters club in your area and be a guest at least once.

But be forewarn!

The experience and exposure from this first meeting will definitely have a great and lastly impact on you and might even change your life forever.

It has changed mine.!!

Go now and Happy Toast-Mastering!!
